The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 印度被英國殖民的辛酸血淚史、抗戰革命史，3個小時一次道盡。特別喜歡序幕將兩大男主角用水與火的意象去做刻畫與對比，水與火永不相容，但是當水與火相容的那一天，便是起兵反抗之時。真沒想到同個月可以看到兩部甘古拜的電影，她真的越看越美欸！
印度超英，抗英神片。印度影史制作成本第二高的电影（7200万美元），印度影史预售票房纪录、首映票房纪录，海外上映首周击败《新蝙蝠侠》《迷失之城》拿下全球票房冠军，历史级别的宏伟史诗巨作。有“猴神大叔”普拉萨德这么好的剧本，加上“国宝级别”的拉贾穆里导演。集结小老虎+拉姆查兰特哈+德乌干三大影帝同场飙戏，《甘古拜》《误杀瞒天记》全套主演班底，稳坐印度影史历史前三毫无悬念了。开场即高能，拉朱那一段「不可能完成的任务」看得我「目瞪口呆」。转场及后期延伸非常巧妙，叙事流畅、脉络清晰、特效逼真、反转合理。民族大义与亲情、友情贯穿始终，搭配印度固有的轻快歌舞，一气呵成，相当精彩。虽有些桥段过于「神剧化」（最后巴霍巴利王登场真的是认真的吗？），但放在大制作的商业电影中却甚是精妙。瑕不掩瑜，我愿意给四颗星。

想起之前看过的《总督之屋》真是高下立见
真牛逼啊，孙悟空贝吉塔啊这俩；画面真不错，猛兽齐出笼很精彩；三个多小时歇了好几气
本片可谓是两兄弟为了拯救人民从陌生到一起的冰与火之歌。只有印度的歌舞才能给人独特的感染力，它能通过歌舞的形式继续推进剧情。而且歌舞很美很动人不是吗。
正史中描写虚拟人物的故事。也许并不假，只是未被看到并写出。剧情并不需要如此叨叨唠唠的。有点长了。
浮夸的我笑的没眼看，印度人真的这么自信吗？

这两个主角第一次在英公馆对打的时候后面群演跑来跑去的不知道累不累
首相张伯伦的扮演，非常成功，而希特勒的人物性格塑造，显得稳健和缜密，总感觉与历史不符。全片较好的还原了二战前夕政治斡旋，留给后人诸多的想象空间。
竊以為題材有意思，但故事寫得不好，導演合格。
作为间谍片，氛围营造的很成功。希特勒演的有点失败，缺少狂躁的气质。张伯伦刻画的很精彩，一看就是那种老牌资本主义政治家。对于洗白张伯伦的理由，感觉有点苍白。很多人看完电影就结合实事：就把乌克兰比作捷克，把普金比作希特勒，我觉得纯粹是入戏太深了。
角度很有意思
这种欺男霸女式的民族主义的兴起有种难以言说的可怕。5
