The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 我最近这是什么手气啊……氛围很好，前面一半搞不懂什么事就不想快进，整个故事通过打电话来展开也不让人难受。吐槽：男主在片子里一言不合就开喷，挨喷的有脸人不是胖子就是女人，大家都还好好地哄着他，也许是因为大家都知道他正在艰难时刻？最后男主不仅心碎人救心碎人，还洗心革面重新做人。总之：当白男真好啊。
一向不太理解这种仅仅换了团队、文本几乎无长进的翻拍电影有什么存在的必要，蛮喜欢jake的所以还是看了。但是演员吧有时候完全可以松弛一些，演戏不用总是大火爆炒。你知道你在酝酿，观众也看得出来你在酝酿，一层又一层情绪铺垫最后果然来次大的，it is too much.说白了还是天赋问题，不是说演技差，就是看得观众很累，不应该是这样的

男主这个暴躁性格真的拉低了很多观感 再加上剪辑和一些设定 好家伙 我在电影前十分钟就开始烦躁起来 到后面听那些无意义的对话和情绪声 以及这毫无新意的拉满结尾 真的觉得索然无味全无好感。
剧情差，演技绝!男主角不是吉伦哈尔的话看一半就关了
Jake演技越来越奴火cen青啦，还有电话声音的卡司也太好笑了，片尾我和大师姐惊笑连连
表演并不好，表情都变形成那样了，一滴眼泪都没有，太尬了
故事剧情的发展非常抓人，高潮迭起完全无尿点。
3星，演员阵容很强，但跟原版比起来，美国版显得很暴躁，戾气，杰克的表演也是用力过猛。缺少反思，多了一份粗鲁莽撞。
女主能不能不要一直气声和喘气啊，我都快憋死了… 看过原版非常惊艳，美国的改编非常美国化，有点过于drama了…杰克吉伦哈尔的颜值让我看下去的，不然情绪管理这么有问题的警察负责接911电话，合理吗？？
紧跟一下police brutality的热点 不容易 不过这剧本实在一般
但是改编有一些可惜
杰克吉伦哈尔贡献了一场精彩的，让人动容的表演。
男主角这种偏执狂，扔到人群里，就是一颗随时要炸的手榴弹。他还是一个警察，那就是颗导弹了。剧情实在给男主开了太多光环了，一个神经病会听他歇斯底里的语无伦次？通讯中心就任由他上蹿下跳？其实老美是很在意对方情绪管理的。如果没有剧情加持，可以想象这样性格的人会在自以为救人的情况下伤害多少人。实在无法共情男主。吉伦哈尔演戏时候的度如果再不收一收，就快成为马景涛了。
这片子剧本感这么强都能演得这么沉浸
低成本电影的天花板（源于我那糟糕的记忆力（确实想不起其他类似的极低成本单场景又拉满一整部作品的电影啦

最近这两年怎么都要拍独角戏？始终没有哪部比当年的狙击电话亭更惊艳。
低分好片，老吉这表演不比瑞恩在活埋里面表现好？我是真想他得次奥斯卡。
獨角戲模式已不鮮見，人物轉變動力不足，完全靠特寫撐著。
