The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 也就是还行吧，关注现实但太过毒鸡汤，感觉像是一部春节献礼的命题作文，看了导演的这部电影，也就是一部电影，离开表达，导演也不是导神。哈哈哈
优点是大场面很爽，光影塑造很漂亮，牺牲战士冰雕震撼心灵。缺点是剧情平庸，哪个角色要被写死基本出场不久就能猜到。对于人物的牺牲处理得难以引起共情，尤其刘秘书段——地图并不唯一，以身犯险动机不够，加之人物前期只出现过两幕，在观众印象中只是主席儿子这样一个脸谱化形象，无法触动内心深层次的共鸣。讨厌伍万里，无组织无纪律还开金手指，没了主角光环要死几百次了吧。我要看老兵们伟大牺牲，谁要看小兵成长记啊。朱亚文果然适合文质彬彬的角色，比演抖机灵油腻男强多了。最喜欢的角色是Edward，优雅绅士又懂得尊重中国军人的一位长官。

瑕瑜互现，但依然动人。吾辈当自强！
广州点映来打卡！期待了这么久果然没有让我失望，国家梦之队的阵容，13亿的投资，全片三个小时，两个多小时都是在打，特效也不错，临场感很足。文戏方面人物都刻画得很有个性，不会有拖沓感，还有几个笑点穿插其中。应该还有下部，水门桥的剧情没有出现。唯一缺点感觉就是最后冰雕连出现太突然，匆匆结尾，意犹未尽。ps：第一次参加这种首映会，会后还有北京现场直播，主创们都来了。

这部电影太“硬”了。剧情硬，演技硬，台词硬。

战争场面有点乱，更没想到三个小时只看了上半集。。。
个体总是更容易共情，但个体往往无法代表群体，所以故事还是讲个体的好。
先说缺点。三小时的片长非常煎熬，且根本没有相匹配的内容支撑，战争戏份拖沓冗长，支线太多，人物塑造支离破碎。尤其是在生理方面的体验，三个小时炮声、喊声、轰鸣声，整个头几乎嗡嗡的，似要炸裂。这是一个非常痛苦的过程，除非你常去夜店（我是不去的），不然真的非常难受。再说优点。对于来朝鲜作战的起因和目的处理的很好，最后用突然出现的万里河山，把一整场冲突用自然且动人的方式收尾了。前期群像、服化、战场还原度等也做得很不错。陈凯歌导演也算让我刮目相看了，还拿得动刀。
