The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 就是颜值有点，不过虽然不算标准的帅哥但是看多了也挺可爱的。特别是baby太魔性了。
表現方式上，盡管是一鏡到底卻流暢自然，在狹小的空間里卻收放自如，導演敢於信任演員讓他們在這個場景中真實地承擔著每個角色的真實狀態。幾句話，一個表情就把形形色色的人描繪出來，兩次間隔很短的“救護車”的出現將崩潰表現出來。影片只是表現了一個半小時的餐廳營業，卻通過把形形色色的人勾勒出來，每個人都像是鍋里的濃湯，各自沸點不同，而當低沸點統統蒸發時，此時熱油才開始焦灼並毀掉一切。

一开始有点劝退。但是后面再看觉得还好，导演这种视频沟通的拍摄手法还挺新鲜的。
隐喻很重，就是节奏太慢，此类型还是喜欢酣畅淋漓一点的

惊喜之作！轻Cult黑色电影，所有笑点都是在不经意处闪亮，所有一切都设置的如此合理，我甚至都感觉有“伊朗猪”这个生物；之前有很多同类型片，但这部竟然有股子清新感；对于目前缺物资的上海市民…恩，“素食主义者”😍
字幕翻成黄秋生好有趣啊，素食者的这个题材也好少见
这么有趣的题材理应配上更欢乐明快的镜头节奏。
塑造出了一个被各种事情分心以至于在厨房里一直处于状况外的主厨 出情况的时候只会说“我不知道” 哪怕不需要崩塌的情节 这也已经是地狱厨房了

还挺有意思的。 因财生意，最后因为良心发现停手。 看的那版翻译篡改杀人狂相关为“黄秋生”有点出戏。
法版人肉叉烧包。屠夫伉俪生意惨淡，无意中发现人肉比较受欢迎，于是乎开始了产业链拓展。
真·一镜到底，这个本身就保证了剧情的连贯和紧张（全程都在找剪辑点？人家关上门的时候镜头都在动），再加上一个在重压下焦躁不安的主角，一个半小时真是很快就过去了
